FRANKLIN, Tenn., May 24, 2022 –- PopHealthCare, a GuideWell Mutual Holding Corporation company, today announced Eric Galvin joins the organization as its chief executive officer A tenured health plan leader with more than three decades of operations, underwriting, finance and human resources experience, Galvin’s appointment further positions PopHealthCare and its value-based national medical group Emcara Health to deliver on its vision of reducing the overall cost of care while better meeting patient and member needs.

Prior to joining PopHealthCare, Galvin played a dual role as the Executive Vice President and Chief Growth and Medical Cost Officer of EmblemHealth and the President of ConnectiCare. In these roles, he worked with local, state and federal government and other community-based leaders to make health care more affordable, more impactful and a better experience for patients and caretakers. Galvin has also held key roles with Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, Cigna, Andersen and Price Waterhouse.

Galvin is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with degrees in accounting and management information systems. He also completed executive education at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. He has been on the boards of Junior Achievement and the United Way and co-founded 501c(3) organization “Partners in a Healthier Connecticut” that sought to improve the delivery of care for patients with chronic conditions.
Galvin succeeds Mark McConnell, who served as interim CEO of Emcara Health and will continue as chief executive officer of Onlife Health, also a GuideWell company. Galvin’s appointment rounds out the executive leadership team for PopHealthCare and Emcara Health.
