Full Transcript: President & CEO Pat Geraghty Thanks Frontline Health Care Workers

At Florida Blue and GuideWell,we're a mission-driven health solutions enterprise, committed to helping people and communities achieve better health.

This isn't something we can accomplish on our own. It takes strong and innovative care partnerships in communities across the state and beyond, all working together for those we serve.

As we collectively face a pandemic unlike any other, our health care industry's network of caregivers is leading the way, walking into the crisis head on, and being the face of strength, courage and compassion in a time of fear and uncertainty.

On behalf of our enterprise, I want to thank every physician, nurse and front-line care team member putting the health and wellness of our neighbors and communities before their own. It is this unwavering bravery that will carry us to the other side.

A significant number of team members from our GuideWell affiliates including Diagnostic Clinic Medical Group, Florida Health Care Plans, Capital Health Plans, GuideWell Emergency Doctors, Sanitas and PopHealthCare have been reporting for duty on the front lines.

These teams have gone above and beyond to ensure that we can continue to provide high-quality care to our members and communities.

They've done this quickly by transitioning from providing in-person visits to providing telehealth services.

They've established drive-through testing and treatment options, and they've ramped up mail-order and curbside pharmacy.

The GuideWell commitment to the health of our members and communities is alive and well across our clinical teams.

We've also kicked off an extensive outreach to members with existing health conditions, the population most vulnerable to COVID-19.

Our registered nurses and health coaches are proactively contacting members to provide education on how to stay healthy and identify any other needs they may have.

In partnership with our team of licensed social workers, we're connecting them to resources ranging from COVID-19 testing, telemedicine, food delivery, mail-order prescription services and behavioral health support.

Our affiliate, PopHealthCare's advance practice providers, continue to deliver in-home medical care to many members with complex conditions.

The care teams are also calling every single member each week to check on them, coordinate their care and connect them to social, emotional and behavioral support services.

By treating members in their home and over the phone, we're helping them to avoid a visit to the hospital, urgent care, or doctor's office where they might be exposed to the virus.

There's a quote from Abraham Lincoln that rings true for us now.

"Courage is not the absence of fear. It is going forward with the face of fear."

This speaks so articulately to the health care industry, especially right now.

While no one knows for sure when this pandemic will end, our industry vows to be there, courageously helping, for as long as it takes and long after, stay safe.
