GuideWell Mutual Holding Corporation (GuideWell), the parent to a family of forward-thinking companies focused on transforming health care, announced a strategic agreement today with Livongo (Nasdaq: LVGO) the leading Applied Health Signals company empowering people with chronic conditions to live better and healthier lives.

Florida Blue, a GuideWell subsidiary and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan of Florida, will provide access to Livongo for Diabetes to select members.

She grew up with an outstanding role model: a physician father utterly devoted to serving his patients, with an equally impressive command of his subject matter. From watching his example, Elana Schrader, M.D., Senior Vice President, Health Care Services and President, GuideWell Health, realized at a young age that fulfillment comes from serving others—and knowledge creates the opportunity to do so.

She’s been living by that motto ever since.

In her current role at GuideWell, Elana leads the health care delivery business for the enterprise. She is also responsible for the development of the overarching clinical strategy for Florida Blue and leading clinical activities including care and quality management, pharmacy, health promotions and wellness, care partners and vendors and a new area focused on behavioral health.

Tampa Bay will soon have a lower-cost alternative to the emergency room. GuideWell Emergency Doctors announced it will expand into Hillsborough and Pinellas counties with six new locations.

The innovative medical practice, operated by Crucial Care, will treat both urgent and emergency medical needs to patients of all ages and provide an alternative to overcrowded, high-cost emergency rooms by combining the convenience and low-cost of an urgent care clinic with the technology and medical personnel associated with a hospital ER.
